How to do a good food transition for your dog

Posted by Mathieu Poirier on

If you are thinking, or are actually changing your dog's everyday food, we always recommend incorporating a new food gradually into your pup’s diet. We suggest a transition of at least 4 days to make sure that your dog gets used to it the right way!

Here is a quick and easy 4 day transition plan:

DAY 1
In each meal, mix 25% of the new food with 75% of your current food.

DAY 2
Increase the mix to 50% of the new food with 50% of your
current food.

DAY 3
Now that the tummy is starting to adjust well, you can mix
75% of the new food with 25% of your current food.

DAY 4
The transition is completed, you can now use the new food by
itself!

To ensure an even smoother transition for dogs with particularly sensitive stomachs, we recommend repeating every step a second time to double the total length of the transition to 8 days!
